December 2019 Newsletter
Greetings to all who support the Sioux County Sportsmen’s Club.
Thank you to all for your support for the year 2019. Your support for the past 22 years has made a huge difference for our county insuring our youth the opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. 2019 has been another busy year with updates, improvements and additions to our public grounds and parks. Thank you!
Fund Raising Events
The Sioux County Sportsmen’s Club has 2 opportunities for you to help raise funds for conservation. The past few months the land acquisition committee has been approached with quite a few opportunities on land coming available. Although we do not know the outcome of these yet, we surely do not want to pass these opportunities up because of available funds. Please consider helping out with these events.
2020 Calendar
The 2020 calendars are out for sale. This is a joint fund raiser with Sioux County Sportsmen’s Club and Sioux Prairie Chapter #36 PF with all the funds raised going into a separate account. The calendars are on sale for $35 with 53 drawings this year (leap year). You can purchase these from any board member, go to our website to purchase or find a business where they are located. (www.siouxcsc.org) They will also be available when you purchase banquet tickets. Each Wednesday is the drawing for firearms or gift cards. The money raised has a potential of being doubled to be used for land acquisition. These make an excellent Christmas gift. Please consider buying these as this has the potential to raise some big dollars for future land acquisition. Thanks to all.

Land Update
There has just been more acres added to the Rock Wildlife Area. The Sioux County Sportsmen’s Club helped with the purchase of 11.88 acres to this piece. This is the farm ground that jutted in the public on the south side of the old tracks.
There is a lot of discussion on multiple pieces that is and might be coming up for sale. Everyone who is involved with the land acquisition is working hard to see what can be done with these coming up. We appreciate all your support and ask for your continued support in these efforts.
The Sioux County Conservation did some stocking of ponds this year. Because of all the flooding the stocking was limited to just a few ponds. Sandy Hollow was stocked with perch, bluegill, catfish and crappie. The Floyd B Complex with catfish, bluegill and crappie and the Vande Weerd pit with catfish, bluegill and crappie. This was done with funding help from Sioux County Sportsmen’s Club.
Kids events
The Sioux County Sportsmen’s Club held their annual kids events this summer.
At the outdoor skills day there were 280 kids with 40 volunteers. SCSC gave out numerous prizes including air rifles, bb guns, and a youth rifle and shotgun.
The kids fishing day there were 75 people with 10 volunteers. Prizes were given out for the most fish, biggest fish and the casting contest.
Thanks to the Sioux County Conservation Board and all the volunteers that helped.
