Greetings to all outdoorsmen and women!

This past year, 2017, marked the 20th anniversary of the Sioux County Sportsmen’s Club. Going into the 21st year, many exciting things have happened and are developing in Sioux County. It is very exciting to see all of the improvements and updates being done throughout the entire county to the parks and public grounds for the enjoyment of everyone to be able to enjoy the outdoors. By your support as members, sponsors, businesses and individual donors  we can continue to preserve the future for our youth to enjoy the outdoors. Thanks to everyone for your support.

Again this year we held the kids events that were a great success.

  • At the Outdoor Skills Day this year the were 209 kids attending. It is awesome to see so many kids interested in wanting to learn different skills for the outdoors.
  • This year at the Kids Fishing Day at Sandy Hollow there were 60 kids attending. Again there were a lot of nice fish caught this year with the largest being an 18” bass.
  • Thanks to the Sioux County Conservation Board and all the volunteers for putting on these events.

Land Update

Again this year the Sioux County Conservation Board has been busy stocking our local ponds with funding help by the Sioux County Sportmen’s Club.  Winterfeld boating and fishing – 200 walleye, 200 crappie. Sandy Hollow 200 crappie and 150 perch. Boyden Bruce Schomaker area 150 crappie, 50 perch and 100 walleye. Hawarden Big Sioux recreation area 600 walleye and 1100 perch.

The work on the ponds at Sandy Hollow is coming along very nice along with several other updates being done to the recreation area. Thanks to our Sioux County Conservation for making this area another recreational “HOT” spot in our county.

Excitement keeps building for the new Nature Center that will be constructed at Oak Grove Park. The Sioux County Conservation Foundation is working hard to raise the remaining $1.2 million needed to secure a $600,000 Enhancement Iowa grant. Go to the Sioux County Conservation website for information or call 712-552-1047 about this great project.

Gun Calendar

You don’t want to miss on this years calendar!  A gun will be drawn every Wednesday in 2018 for a total of 52 guns to be given away!   (*a cash buyout of gun can be redeemed in its place). This is a joint effort between the Sioux County Sportmen’s Club and Pheasants Forever Chapter #36 going into a separate fund which can be doubled making every $35 purchase of a calendar turn into $70.  Contact any board member from SCSC or go to our website for local businesses that carry the calendars. **Calendars will be sold until they are gone. Thank you to all of the business card sponsor for your support in this fund raiser and to all who purchase calendars.
