January 2025 Newsletter
Hello Everyone!
Big News! This year’s banquet will be at Unity Christian Highschool and Prime Rib is back! I hope 2024 was a great year for all of you. I can’t believe how time fly’s. Hunting season is wrapped up, and the lakes are frozen over.
Hopefully some of you have been able to get out and do some ice fishing.
This year’s kids’ events were a battle with mother nature. Be sure to encourage youth to attend these events, especially those who have not been introduced to the outdoors before! Remember, any kids that attend the banquet will be given a ticket to be entered into a special drawing at the Outdoor Skills Day. Odds are typically pretty good in that drawing.
- Outdoor skills day was once again a ton of fun. The wind made the day a challenge. I was one of the volunteers at the fishing station and dealing with kids and fishing line in 40mph winds went about as you would expect. There were whitecaps on Sandy Hollow and fishing line in the trees. I would say the children enjoyed it more than us leaders. It’s always exciting to see kids get introduced to the outdoors especially the ones who have never had the opportunity before. If you are looking for a way to get involved while only giving up one day, please reach out to me or Sunday Ford.
- Kids Fishing Day, was cancelled due to the flooding.
- Thanks to the Sioux County Conservation Board and all the volunteers for putting on these events.
Land Update
We are working on a couple of tracts of land. The Handicapped hunting blind near Oak Grove is now available, but
