MAY 2014 NEWSLETTER

Hello to all the outdoor enthusiasts! We have a few things going on this summer to make you aware of

along with an update about the past banquet held in March.

The banquet was once again a huge success! We cleared around $70,000!! We cannot express enough

thanks for the loyal support from all the members and businesses in the area for believing in what is

being done in Sioux County!

THANK YOU!

We have set March 14, 2015, as the next banquet. Save the date on your calendars!! If anyone has any

new ideas on games, grand prizes or anything else concerning the banquet, please don’t hesitate to

contact a board member. We are always looking for new ideas for the banquet.

Fish stocking in Sioux County Public Waters

The Sioux County Sportsmen’s Club donated funds to be used in stocking of fish in several Sioux County

ponds. Crappie, perch, catfish and walleye were distributed between the Big Sioux rec area, Alton

Borrow Pit, and the Winterfeld Pit in Rock Valley. Catfish were also distributed among most of the other

ponds in Sioux County. More fish will be ordered in July to stock other Sioux County waters in October.

Land Update

We recently purchased 67 acres west of Matlock that will tie into the public piece already there. This

piece will not be open for use until all the grants are finalized.

Calendars

We still have calendars available to purchase if you are interested. As a reminder, each calendar sold

will be tied to a specific number. Each week of the year a number will be drawn to win that week’s gun.

Each calendar can be purchased for $30. Calendars will be sold until we are out of them. If you are

interested in purchasing a calendar, please contact one of the board members listed below.

Sandy Hollow

Beginning May 1, Sandy Hollow will still be available for public use, but will be under the control of the

Sioux County Conservation Board. We will be looking for volunteers on work days to help with clean up

and project improvements. Keep an eye out on our Facebook page or check with one of the board

members for upcoming work dates.

Website
